Look forward to the release of a new e-learning module on how to troubleshoot and replace the defrost heater elements. It is vital that the defrost heaters are mounted correctly. Improper installations can end up with the heaters becoming loose and falling against the FRP evaporator back panel resulting in thermal incidents, leading to cargo claims, damage or loss of cargos and assets (reefers), while more importantly exposing responsible operators to safety issues such as fires. In this module we will look at the location and function of the defrost heater elements, the most common issues and alarms, and the correct troubleshooting and replacement steps.
