To stay flexible on an everchanging market, Dole has chosen to upgrade its fleet with the Star Cool 1.1, newly launched back in September 2024. Star Cool 1.1 and Sekstant have been thoroughly field tested before the decision was taken by Dole, aligning with commitments to operational performance and sustainability.

The Star Cool 1.1 is designed to operate on three refrigerants – R134a, R513a, and R1234yf – without the need for software or hardware modifications. This flexibility supports the use of low-GWP refrigerants and contributes to the longevity of the units in an industry that is continually adapting to new environmental standards. In the successful field trial conducted by Dole, in 2024, the Star Cool 1.1 demonstrated its reliability and efficiency in real-world conditions, further validating its performance and adaptability.

The 400-unit order marks a deeper collaboration between Dole and Star Cool, underscoring Dole’s continued trust in Star Cool’s reliability and expertise. A key component of the deal is the transition to Sekstant telematics, which enhances the monitoring and management of Dole’s reefer containers with valuable OEM reefer telematics services. This upgrade provides Dole with more detailed data insights and remote-control functions, improving overall operational efficiency and container management. One example is the documentation of actual hour-by-hour power consumption by each reefer.
